Environment Law In India Vis-a-Vis Covid-19 Pandemic

All lives are dependent on the quality of the environment. Degradation of the environment was foreseen to impact all the lives.  Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 was enacted by Parliament of the Republic India for protection and improvement of environment. India by the orders of PMO has been incarcerated since 26 March 2020 to curt global pandemic of Covid19. The zeal of MoEFCC in conducting virtual meetings and approving wide scale projects which includes the idea of: mining, infrastructure, industries, forest areas and most importantly to remake New Delhi’s Parliament District by relaxing the National Environmental Assessment Rules albeit Covid19 has flood away all good according to some Environmentalist Experts. On 23rd March MoEFCC issued a new draft policy on assessing the environmental impacts of new projects. Critics condemn this move as such projects are getting easy “yes” without evaluation.
